Many moons ago I heard a song called Bird in a Cage. I fell in love with it and started working out ideas in my head as to how it could be translated into a video - well time moves on and an expert on these things appears to have had similar ideas, only much better. The result can be found here . And nice to see a message on myspace from someone who saw the band play Greenbelt last year and loved them. All I need now are a few more thousand like that and maybe they could be a late entrant. Meanwhile it's back to sunny France and one of the major festivals (OK 100,000 is small beer compared to Glastonbury, but seems like a lot of people to me).

So what have I been doing over the last few days. Here's a clue or two....

So another bid is over. It was a late night - bed about 6am - had planned to be back at 9am to wave off the bid documents but slept through the alarm - I can see why they don't give me anything responsible to do! The night didn't go as planned - problems at the printer and last minute formatting meant nothing to do until about 3.30am. Some went back to bed until they got called back, I stayed to help de-cable one of our offices and spent several hours watching various films and lots of Simpson videos. We then trawled through 40 years of children's tv programmes to see who recognised theme tunes.

It meant the fridges remained full of champagne - you need a clear head for this job. By the time I had got back to the office today it seemed to have all been drunk though!

Next week we get a thank you for the time and effort put into the last 5 months. A few of us will spend the day racing various sports cars followed by a dinner reception.

Welcome to the world of bidding. It's late at the office and we are just debating if we will eventually be back at the hotel in time for the start of breakfast. With just over 24 hours to go this is the time you have to ensure nothing is put off to the following day - so a very dedicated core team work long hours with little sleep making sure everything gets completed on time.

To keep ourselves awake we have amassed a collection of CDs - for some reason they seem to be mainly 70s based - a sign of our ages. Tonight I've had Lynyrd Skynyrd live blasting through my ears to keep me awake. Close to hand is a big favourite of mine at the moment - Neil Young at Massey Hall 1971 - an absolute classic. And just to keep the balance I've been introducing the team to Brakes - Porcupine & Pineapple a big favourite - one of the best punk rock anti war political songs I've heard.
